About Us

“Peace is a fire. Refined mental states have a fiery, full-blooded even ecstatic quality”

Urgyen Sangharakshita

The Malta Buddhist Centre is the newest addition to the Triratna Buddhist Community a worldwide movement of women and men who seek to make the traditional teachings and practices of the Buddha available to the modern world. We explore the Buddha’s teaching and see how it relates in practical terms to our lives today. Together we aim to cultivate clarity, calmness, sensitivity, generosity, and kindness in our lives – towards ourselves and others.

What We Do

This Online Centre is intended as a peaceful oasis in the middle of a busy and stressful world where we can meet online to learn and to practice together.

We run courses in Meditation, Buddhism and Mindfulness for beginners as well as for more experienced people. We also run retreats online to help people to take their experience and practice deeper. Some of those who attend our Online Centre are Buddhists but many don’t identify themselves in this way. All are welcome to come and benefit from what we do here.

Our classes are open to all. You don’t have to be a Buddhist to participate. Buddhism as we practice it is unique in that you can engage with many of its core practices and gain benefit from doing so without having to be a Buddhist or ‘believe’ in the Buddha in a religious sense.

Aksobhin is an Ordained Member of the Triratna Buddhist Order and a qualified Breathworks Mindfulness trainer. He taught Meditation and Buddhism at the Dublin Buddhist Centre for many years. As someone with a long personal encounter with serious illness, chronic pain and fatigue, and as a practising Buddhist, he brings a distinct set of qualities to his teaching. Since 2001 he has developed and run Mindfulness-based courses and established the Malta Mindfulness Centre in 2018.
